Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela (June 25-July 10 2025)
El camino de Santiago de Compostela (or Saint James Way) is a museum of over 800 kilometers. A thousand years of pilgrimages have left a treasure of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque art along the way to Compostela. This encounter will examine the seminal importance of the pilgrimage road to Santiago de Compostela and the relevance of this 1000 year old tradition to Spain and Europe. From its first years, the Road to Santiago has proven to be a framework for mythological legends and a focus of Spain’s historiography.
As we live and travel in Spain, we will soon become aware that Spaniards behave differently in some ways and that they have different values. To only observe differences is valuable but it is even more important to understand why differences occur and what they reflect concerning the Spanish culture.
